Sammys Run 5K
This morning my daughter and I ran Sammys Run 5K in Sarasota. It benefits Oak Park School, the special needs school for Sarasota County where we live. Last year it raised over $20,000. Despite the smoky conditions from wildfires about 950 people turned out to run. Prior to race start they honor those who have passed; this year a student and a staff member. About 16 stroller athletes from all over the state participated with family pushing them. It is a beautiful shady course. This is my second year running this race and most definitely not my last!

Busy Weekend
Yesterday afternoon my daughter had her end-of-year gymnastics show and then I went to a bridal shower in the evening. I started today off with a 10-mile run in glorious south Florida May weather. I cherish it knowing soon even at 6am it will be miserably hot and humid. We then headed up to the Sarasota Bayfront for a friend's sons birthday party. Sarasota Bayfront is truly beautiful. I forget sometimes and take it for granted. Picture perfect weather, splash fountain and playground and time with friends. There is also an art exhibit up there right now, "Embracing Our Differences". Heather had gone about a week ago with a school field trip but I was glad we had a chance to enjoy it with her today as well. What did you do this weekend?

Guitar
Special request for my daughter... guitar book bag for school. I surprised her by also making a matching water bottle holder and a basket for her desk at home. Surprises are a good thing :)

Girls on Run 5K
Last night my daughter and I ran the Girls on the Run 5K on Siesta Beach. It was a beautiful evening for it. Mid-70's, low humidity, gentle sea breeze. We stayed for sunset after.

Looking Down
This was taken from our balcony at Gaylord Palms Orlando when we went for an overnight trip a year-ish ago. Very cool hotel.
